Avoiding Plagiarism and Using Sources Effectively Online

Plagiarism is phrase which strikes fear into the heart of many students, but do you understand what this concept really means? Come along to this session to gain a better understanding of how to ethically incorporate other people’s ideas and work into your own writing.  Learn about the differences between direct quoting, paraphrasing and summarising.  We will also look at common dissertation referencing issues such as how to cite images, tables/graphs and your own primary data.  By the end of this session you will gain confidence in your ability to use sources effectively and avoid common plagiarism pitfalls.
